Should I watch It?
This LEGO special hits a high mark, overshadowing the recent Disney live-action attempts. Perhaps Disney should consider the merits of this LEGO rendition over their string of live-action remakes.
The authenticity of the special is bolstered by the return of many original voice actors: Jodi Benson reprises Ariel, Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, and Richard White returns as Gaston.
Where original voices are absent, due to unavailability or passing, talents like Jim Cummings (famous for voicing Disney’s Pete from Mickey Mouse) step in as King Triton, and Corey Burton gives life to the Magic Mirror. Expect delightful cameos from characters beyond the princess realm.
This special serves a treat. The quintet of princesses unite against Gaston, providing a refreshing take, separate from the movie lore we’re familiar with.
Each princess is showcased distinctly, even as the narrative introduces new traits, such as Snow White’s humorous axe-wielding quirk, which somewhat diverges from her traditional character. While the voice acting varies, the plot captivates and imparts a valuable lesson.
