Anime has become a global phenomenon, with fans all around the world gathering at conventions dressed up as their favorite characters.
But where did it all start?
Anime can trace its roots back to early Japanese animation, dating back to 1917. However, it was in the 1960s that anime began to flourish and gain popularity, thanks partly to Astro Boy – considered the first anime series – which earned a following not only in Japan but also overseas.
Fast forward to today, and numerous popular anime series range from heart-wrenching dramas to action-packed thrillers.
And let’s not forget about Studio Ghibli, known for beloved films like Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. It’s clear that anime is here to stay, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this beloved medium.
