Some cartoon characters whisper. Mr. Blik screams. He is the loud, vain, scheming black cat at the center of Catscratch, and he is one of my favorite forgotten Nicktoons characters. He is bossy. He is greedy. He is convinced he is a genius. He is wrong about that last part more often than not. And he is a blast to watch.
Here is everything you want to know about Mr. Blik. What kind of cat he is. Who voices him. Where he came from. And why this loud little furball deserves more love than he gets.
Who Is Mr. Blik?

Mr. Blik is one of the three cat brothers in Catscratch, a Nickelodeon cartoon from the mid-2000s. He is the oldest brother. He is also the self-appointed leader, which mostly means he bosses the other two around.
The setup is simple and great. Three cats inherit a fortune from their late owner. They get a giant mansion, a monster truck, and a butler. Then they spend their days living large and getting into trouble. Blik is the one who wants the money, the fame, and the respect most of all.
He is loud, fussy, and stubborn. He is also a black cat with piercing yellow eyes, which the show loves to use as a running joke about bad luck. Trouble follows Blik everywhere.
What Kind of Cat Is Mr. Blik?

This is one of the most common questions about him, so let me clear it up. The show never gives Mr. Blik an official breed. But his look points to one answer: the Bombay.
For the record, fans have pinned down his brothers too. Gordon looks like a Manx. Waffle is an American Curl. Blik is the little black panther of the family, and he knows it.
Who Voices Mr. Blik?
Mr. Blik has a perfect voice, and you have heard it before. He is played by Wayne Knight. If that name does not ring a bell, his most famous roles will.
And the rest of the cast is stacked. Gordon is Rob Paulsen, the voice of Pinky, Yakko, and Raphael. Waffle is Kevin McDonald from The Kids in the Hall. Hovis the butler is Maurice LaMarche, the voice of the Brain. For a little show almost nobody remembers, Catscratch had a murderers’ row of voice talent.
The Comic That Started It All

Here is the part the wikis tend to skip, and it is the coolest thing about the whole show. Catscratch did not start as a cartoon. It started as a comic book.
So Blik is not just a cartoon cat. He is a real cat, turned into a comic book character, turned into a Nicktoon. The Gear comic was darker and more action-heavy than the goofy show. But the personalities came straight from TenNapel‘s own living room.
Mr. Blik’s Personality

Blik is vain. Deeply, hilariously vain. He is obsessed with his own fur, which he calls “buttery,” and he wants every fancy thing money can buy. He craves status above all else. He wants to be the richest, most respected cat in town.
But here is what makes him work. Under all that bluster, Blik is insecure. He acts brave, but he is scared of the monsters under his bed. He puffs himself up because deep down he is not sure he measures up. One TV critic summed him up as basically Ted Baxter in cat form: a pompous loudmouth who is mostly bark. That little crack in the armor is exactly why he is lovable instead of annoying.
Blik, Gordon, and Waffle

You cannot talk about Blik without his brothers. The whole show runs on the three of them bouncing off each other. Blik is the schemer. Gordon is the sensible one, a sweet Scottish-accented cat with a crush on the human girl next door, Kimberly. And Waffle is the sweet, dim, happy one who loves his pet newts.
Blik fights with Gordon constantly, usually over who is in charge. He treats Waffle like a baby brother he loves and gets annoyed by in equal measure. But when it counts, Blik would do anything for them. The bickering hides a real bond, and those bursts of heart are the best part of the show.
The Best Mr. Blik Quotes
Half the fun of Blik is the stuff that comes out of his mouth. The writers gave him some all-time nonsense. A few favorites:
- “For I, and my ginormous brain…” (he is very proud of a brain that rarely helps him)
- “Look at your beautiful, buttery fur!” (said to himself, lovingly)
- His insults for Gordon: “Fatty McQuid,” “Tubby McThumpkins,” and “Bulbous McPorky”
- His pure-nonsense insults: “You cobbler-stuffed leaf monkey!” and “Lemur-sauced radish pole!”
- And his go-to victory cry, a simple, triumphant “Yeah!”
None of it makes sense. All of it is funny. That is Blik in a nutshell.

A few more things worth knowing about the loud little cat.
He even invented his own celebratory dance, proudly named “Mr. Blik’s Cheer-‘Em-Up Song and Dance Extravaganza.” Of course he did.
Catscratch: Episodes, Ending, and Where to Watch
How Many Episodes of Catscratch Are There?
Catscratch had a short life. It ran for one season, and then it was gone.
It even picked up an Annie Award nomination for its character design. But it never found a big audience, and that was the end of it. A real shame.
Where Can You Watch Catscratch?
This is the frustrating part. Catscratch is one of the great lost Nicktoons. As of 2026, it is not streaming on Paramount Plus or any other major service, and it never got a full DVD release. Only a couple of old Nick compilation discs ever included a single episode each. Fans have been asking for an official release for years, with no luck. For now, the show mostly lives on through unofficial uploads online, which is how most people rewatch it. If you can track it down, it is worth the hunt.
That is Mr. Blik: a loud, vain, scheming black cat with a giant ego, a soft heart, and a brain that gets him into far more trouble than it gets him out of. He is the kind of character who should not be lovable, and somehow is. Catscratch deserved better than to be forgotten, and Blik is a big part of why.
