Who Is Kevin Reynolds?
Kevin is one of the four kids at the center of Supernoobs, the show where a group of middle schoolers get alien Battle Balls and have to fight a planet-eating Virus. He and Tyler are best friends first, which is why Kevin is usually right at the center of every plan and every mess.
Look-wise, he is easy to spot. Kevin has curly black hair that flicks up in front, a peach complexion, and a mouth full of braces.
His usual outfit is a black hoodie over a gray tee with blue jeans. When he powers up, that black hair flips to bright red.
The Red Noob and Team Shapeshifter
Kevin’s whole deal is the red Battle Ball, which lets him shapeshift into different animals. It is a seriously cool power, and it comes with the show’s best running gag. Kevin constantly aims for something impressive and ends up as an opossum instead.
His transforming has real rules, too.
He can only turn into creatures he has seen or knows well, which is mostly animals.
He can also splice animal parts together and even chat with animals while transformed. Kevin fans love comparing him to Beast Boy from Teen Titans, and the animal-morphing overlap makes that an easy call.
Kevin’s Personality
Time for a little myth-busting. The draft version of this character painted Kevin as an underdog who slowly matures into a responsible hero.
That is not really who he is. Kevin is the most selfish and irresponsible member of the Noobs, and the show leans into it for laughs.
He tends to misuse his Battle Ball for personal gain or a quick thrill, and his bad ideas regularly drag the whole team into trouble.
There is a reason for the chip on his shoulder, though. According to his official profile, Kevin is an only child from a rough home life, so he treats his friends like the family he is missing. That mix of bravado and neediness is what makes him more than a one-note goofball.
Kevin’s Powers and Abilities
Kevin’s power set is all about transformation:
- Shapeshifting: He can become almost any animal he has seen, and can grow or shrink that form at will.
- Animal splicing: He can combine parts of different animals into one custom creature.
- Talking to animals: While transformed, he can communicate with creatures of that species.
- Virus forms: After the Ball Master upgrades his Battle Ball, he can even turn into Virus versions of animals.
There is a scary catch to all this. If Kevin loses his Battle Ball or it breaks while he is transformed, he has about three hours to fix it before he is stuck in that form forever. For a kid this reckless with his powers, that is a nerve-wracking limit.
Did you know? Kevin is voiced by Richard Ian Cox, who many anime fans know as the English voice of Inuyasha. Kevin is also an only child, is allergic to shellfish, and, in a rare soft moment, is implied to have a crush on his teammate Shope.

Kevin’s relationships drive a lot of the show:
- Tyler Bowman: His best friend and the team leader. They are the core duo, even when Kevin’s schemes test Tyler’s patience.
- Jennifer Shope: The brains of the group. She clashes with Kevin’s reckless streak, but he clearly cares about her more than he admits.
- Theodore Roachmont: His partner in mischief. The two of them together are a recipe for chaos.
- Memnock and Zenblock: The alien mentors who trained the Noobs. Kevin started out doubting them and slowly grew to trust them.
Show quick facts: Supernoobs comes from Scott Fellows, the creator of Johnny Test, and ran on Cartoon Network from 2015 to 2019. The four Noobs each carry a different colored Battle Ball: Tyler’s blue, Kevin’s red, Shope’s purple, and Roach’s green. They all attend Cornbury Middle School.
Tyler’s take: Kevin is proof that the “selfish friend” archetype can still be lovable. He is not the hero you look up to, he is the buddy who talks you into a bad idea and then shapeshifts into an opossum at the worst possible moment.
